The School of Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Sport Management, and Hospitality & Tourism Management, one of three schools in the College of Business, invites applications for two 9-month tenure-track faculty positions in Hospitality & Tourism Management, one at the Assistant/Associate rank and one at the Assistant Rank, beginning in August 1, 2024. The successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to contribute to the mission of the Hospitality and Tourism Management program which seeks to prepare graduates to be Business Ready® to meet the needs of the industry and become leading professionals in their field. The mission is achieved through sound theoretical coursework, research and innovative learning activities, industry engagement and service learning.
These positions requires teaching courses at the undergraduate level, delivering experiential and applied learning to students, teaching both online and face-to-face courses, advising, and service activities. The normal teaching load is 18 semester hours per academic year. Some teaching responsibilities may be at off-site locations and during evening hours.
Successful candidates will engage in scholarly research and publication. Successful candidates will contribute in the further development and growth of the Hospitality and Tourism Management Program at Western Carolina University and will provide a vision for its place within the university and the region. The successful candidates will contribute leadership and assist with program implementation duties for the Hospitality and Tourism Management Program. A Ph.D. in Hospitality & Tourism or an appropriate business field from an accredited institution or a terminal degree in a closely related field.Preferred Qualifications:
If ABD, the dissertation must be successfully defended by the end of the Spring 2024 semester.
