The Department of Music at the University of Pennsylvania seeks to appoint a tenure track assistant professor specializing in Korean music, to begin 1 July 2024. We seek a colleague who will engage broadly with Korean humanities and encourage applications from scholars with strong interdisciplinary orientations who engage multiple sub-disciplines within music studies. We seek candidates with proven classroom experience; teaching responsibilities will include core and specialized undergraduate and graduate courses. Candidates should have completed the Ph.D. by 1 July 2024.

The Department of Music is a community of creators and thinkers who explore worlds of music, sound, and performance in ways that expand the boundaries of knowledge and practice. Our department is housed within the School of Arts & Sciences, which is comprised of 28 academic departments, the College of Arts and Sciences, the Graduate Division, and the College of Liberal and Professional Studies. Qualifications
Qualifications include:

● Broad training in Korean humanities and Korean music

● Strong research potential

● Capacity for teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and mentoring and supporting a diverse student body

● The ability to direct graduate/undergraduate research

● Candidates are expected to have a PhD by the time of appointment, which is 1 July, 2024

● The successful candidate will be expected to contribute actively to the James Joo-Jin Kim Center for Korean Studies
