Position Summary:The Department of Civil, Environmental & Geomatics Engineering (http://www.cege.fau.edu) at Florida Atlantic University welcomes applications for multiple tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in the general area of Structural Engineering, Mechanics, and Materials or Transportation Engineering. The department is particularly interested in candidates who can contribute in one or more of the following areas: durability and resiliency of infrastructure under multiple natural hazards and/or environmental conditions, advanced experimental techniques, novel construction materials and methods, artificial intelligence in structural engineering, multi-scale/data-driven computational mechanics, and/or design and maintenance of resilient infrastructure systems, and in addition, transportation planning and operations, travel behavior and demand modeling, emerging technologies in transportation, and sustainable and resilient transportation.
The Department of Civil, Environmental & Geomatics Engineering (CEGE) hosts 3 ABET accredited undergraduate programs, a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Transportation and Environmental Engineering with about 400 undergraduate and 65 graduate students. The faculty is highly interdisciplinary and conducts research primarily in the broad thematic areas of Urban Mobility, Infrastructure, and Sustainability/resilience. The Department has three research centers: the Center for Infrastructure and Constructed Facilities (fau.edu/engineering/cege/research/cicf/), the Center for Water Resiliency and Risk Reduction (cwr3.fau.edu), and the Freight Mobility Research Institute (fmri.fau.edu, a TIER 1 University Transportation center sponsored by the US Department of Transportation).
