The College office (Social Sciences and Law) is the academic and student support office to all Social Sciences taught programmes, supporting its students and schools. It is a busy, dynamic and progressive office with a focus on team work, collaboration and service excellence. The College office is seeking to recruit an Internship and Employability Manager. This role will lead in the management, administration, oversight and development of internships within academic programme(s) within the College of Social Sciences and Law.


This role has strategic oversight of and lead operational responsibility for the internship programmes. The post holder works with a range of internal and external stakeholders to successfully develop, deliver and review the programmes on an annual basis. Working with relevant academic leaders and alumni teams, the post holder must identify and deliver appropriate opportunities relating to specific programme learning outcomes. Focusing on the University and College strategy of diversity and inclusion, the post holder must also create placement opportunities to ensure that students may avail of these opportunities.


The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day administration, management and promotion of internship programmes including: liaising and developing relationships with employers; identifying and securing internship opportunities for students; and the provision of appropriate levels of administrative support to the UCD staff involved in coordinating the internships and to the students; liaison with other UCD teams, as appropriate. The post holder is expected to work on strategic initiatives at university level and collaborate with the President office on sourcing leads for strategic partnerships with companies.


The holder will have responsibility for ensuring the implementation of relevant University policies, in particular those related to internship provision, and will be responsible for maintaining a quality service to key stakeholders in line with university guidelines and processes and in liaison with UCD Career Connects. The post holder is expected to put in place project management procedures in order to scale the internship programme and systemize its operations.


Combined with this, the post holder is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of the programme including working with companies to source and secure appropriate placements, operationalising the application and offer process, delivering workshops to students during all stages of the process, organising mock interviews for all participants, preparing students for placement, engaging in ongoing site visits to host institutions to support students and employers while at the same time providing colleagues and faculty in the College of Social Science and Law with specialist advice and guidance.


At the core of this role is the ability to collaborate with colleagues, students and stakeholders internal and external to the College, to continuously review and enhance the suite of opportunities available to students.


95 Admin Off Ia_2013 (2010) (7080) Salary Scale: €65,388 - €76,409 Per Annum


Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines
