The Department of Population Health Sciences in the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University (AU) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Epidemiology at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience. Strong candidates will possess the ability to design and conduct observational and experimental epidemiological studies and a strong interest in and potential for establishing their own research agenda. We also seek an individual who will develop active collaborations with students and faculty members within and outside of AU. A high interest and ability to engage in effective teaching across a variety of graduate level epidemiology, biostatistics, and public health courses will be important factors in the selection of candidates. The intent is for the position to begin Fall of 2023; however, it will remain open until filled.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Department Chair, the faculty will :
- teach epidemiology and other related courses offered in the department's various graduate programs and mentor graduate students in these programs;
- conduct epidemiological studies, involving primary data collection or utilizing available data with secondary data analysis;
- engage in collaborative research with other investigators in biomedical, public health, and translational research within and outside of AU;
- disseminate collaborative work by authoring and coauthoring manuscripts in relevant peer reviewed journals,
- pursue extramural (grant) funding opportunities to support research initiatives, and
- provide services to the department and the institution.
Required Qualifications
Earned a Ph.D. or DrPH in Epidemiology, Public Health, or closely related field and possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training
Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.
Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
