Job Summary:
Within the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics, this Post-Doctoral Fellow will be joining a research team to understand blood clotting using state-of-the-art mass spectrometry techniques.
Prospective individuals will join a productive team utilizing state-of-the-art bioanalytical methods to answer complex questions related to bleeding disorders, thromboembolism, and productive wound healing.

The position requires the ability to work independently and part of a team on multiple projects concurrently while maintaining a high level of quality control. Successful candidates will have an opportunity for authorship on original manuscripts based on their work.

- Participate in one or more research collaborations exploring stroke, post-partum hemorrhage, coronary and pulmonary thrombosis. In vitro and ex vivo blood or plasma clot formation, sample preparation and data analysis for mass spectrometry experiments. Carrying out proteomics analyses for the qualitative and quantitative characterization of crosslinked peptides. Instrumentation quality control. Communication with collaborators about experimental design and results. Assisting with preparation of technical reports, publications, and presentations. Updating computer software as needed.

- PhD in biochemistry, hematology, chemistry, or related field
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong background and hands-on experience in bioanalytical techniques, particularly in clot formation, mass spectrometry, and proteomics. Proficiency in performing sample preparation, data analysis, and instrument operation for mass spectrometry experiments. Knowledge of various mass spectrometry techniques and software tools. Demonstrated ability to conduct quality control procedures for analytical instrumentation and maintain analytical equipment in optimal working condition. Previous experience in collaborating with other researchers or teams, especially in areas related to bleeding disorders, thromboembolism, and wound healing. A track record of presenting research findings at conferences and/or publishing in peer-reviewed journals will be considered a plus. Proficiency in relevant computer software, data analysis tools, and statistical software for handling experimental data and generating reports.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient knowledge of laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques. Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution. Outstanding customer service skills. Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, medical terminology. Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.
