Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Support grant teams throughout the grants lifecycle from project kick-off and budget initiation through closeout, including monitoring of spending, reporting and tracking other compliance timelines
  • Proactively communicate with project directors and pertinent staff regarding grants and contracts to ensure appropriate progress on externally sponsored projects.
  • Review and process various expenditure requests ensuring adherence to project goals, budgets and University and funder policies and guidelines.
  • Assist in oversight and assignment of day-to-day workflow of the research and sponsored programs team.
  • Provide training to various campus units related to sponsored programs and area of compliance.
  • Execute timely revision, closeout and no-cost extension requests for all funded projects consistent with funder processes and timelines.
  • Provide timely reports to the Director of Research and Sponsored Programs when requested
  • Work closely with Director of Research and Sponsored Programs to ensure all staff are adequately trained, and provide a high level of service and delivery to faculty and staff.
  • Identify and suggest improvements and solutions of team’s workflow and processes.
  • Serve as the point person for sponsored programs team members and project directors/teams related to grants and contracts issues, university and funding agency guidelines.
  • Assist with supervision of other post-award staff and address performance issues on the team.
  • Help create a team culture that fosters open communication, motivates staff, and encourages learning and professional development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director or Assistant Vice President

Education:

Bachelor’s degree required in business administration or related area; MBA preferred.

Experience:

A minimum of three (3) years of experience in sponsored programs or grants administration. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, and attention to details. General knowledge of Federal regulations, guidelines, and practices. Working knowledge of Microsoft office especially Excel and Word for grant and report writing, database management and analysis.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities :

Ability to learn changing technologies related to grants and contracts management. Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks with attention to detail; Ability to effectively communicate; Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects/tasks simultaneously. Ability to prioritize own work and the work of others as needed. Flexible and agile with changing landscapes and technologies in grants and contracts management.

Conditions of Employment :

Typical office and professional job conditions. Walking between buildings may be necessary given the normal physical layout of the University campus.
