The Department of City & Regional Planning at the Stuart Weitzman School of Design at the University of Pennsylvania is seeking candidates for a tenure-track faculty position in Quantitative Methods in Urban Planning. This position is a full-time, tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level with responsibilities for teaching, research, and service.
We seek applicants who are scholars and educators focused on the use and application of practical, innovative, quantitative methods in urban planning, in at least one of the three areas in urban planning practice: Transportation and Infrastructure; Sustainability, Environment, and Climate Change; and/or Public Health and Safety.
The successful candidate will:
- Have a proven track record of scholarly research that employs innovative, applied, and practical quantitative methods in their urban planning specialty area;
- Have the ability to teach existing and new courses in applied quantitative methods, with a focus on courses including applied introductory statistics, R programming and data science, and data visualization; and
- Demonstrate leadership experience or potential, including the ability to collaborate and make connections across departments/programs/schools/centers.
The Weitzman School of Design includes City & Regional Planning, Architecture, Fine Arts, Historic Preservation, Landscape Architecture. The Department of City and Regional Planning offers a two-year Master of City Planning degree as well as a PhD. We welcome the new faculty member to participate in the various research centers located at the School and University.Qualifications:
Minimum Qualification: PhD in Urban Planning (preferred), or a related field, by the start of their employment. Application Instructions:
