Job Title:Assistant/Associate Professor - Dental Hygiene Graduate Program Director

Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty member’s tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice. These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience.
The Ohio State University College of Dentistry invites applications for a full-time (12 months), tenure-track, Dental Hygiene Graduate Program Director at the rank of assistant/associate professor in the Division of Dental Hygiene. This position offers an exciting opportunity to participate in the only graduate dental hygiene program in Ohio and in a division that is structured on the principles of patient care through a comprehensive, vertically integrated small-group practice and interdisciplinary model of health care delivery within a College of Dentistry.
The Dental Hygiene Graduate Program Director is responsible for the administration of the Dental Hygiene Master’s Program. The Dental Hygiene Graduate Program director will chair the MDH graduate studies committee, provide graduate and undergraduate didactic and clinical instruction, lead recruitment and admissions, manage the curriculum and outcomes of the graduate program, and mentor Master’s student theses. Additional responsibilities and opportunities include engaging in scholarly activities, college governance and the intramural faculty practice, as well as any other assignments as determined by the division chair.
The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills with strong conflict resolution and team building abilities, initiative and creativity, as well as a desire to create an environment that promotes collegiality, collaboration, and cultural diversity among members of various education, research, and service communities. A willingness to serve as a role model and advocate for the ideals of professionalism and high ethical standards in a health science educational setting is essential.
Qualified candidates must have graduated from a dental hygiene program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation; possess a graduate degree in dental hygiene or a related field; and have a minimum of three years of teaching experience. Preference will be given to candidates with administrative experience, graduate student mentorship, a doctoral degree, or a scholarly record. Applicants should also possess the qualifications to be eligible for a regular or limited dental hygiene teaching license in the State of Ohio.
