Position Description
The Program of School and College Counseling in the Division of Graduate Education at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) invites applications for a Tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor (Academic Year) with the appointment starting in Fall 2024.

The Position
CSUDH Counseling faculty are committed to preparing reflective and responsive counselor-leaders dedicated to just, equitable, and inclusive counseling service at the TK-16 levels. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated history of successful teaching, research, and professional counseling experience, in addition to a commitment to reflective practice, clinical training, and social justice and equity as a foundation for the preparation of educational counseling professionals. Candidates possessing professional counseling experience both School and College student populations will be given priority.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Applicants must have experience as a professional counselor at either the School (TK-12) or College level working with students from diverse age, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
- Earned doctorate (Ed.D., Ph.D., or Psy.D.) in counseling, psychology, education, or a closely related field of study from an accredited university by date of appointment,
- Experience teaching courses in counseling or psychology at the college level,
- Evidence of a promising agenda of research in counseling as demonstrated by publication and presentation activity,
- Evidence of applied knowledge in three or more of the following areas: counseling theory and practice; group dynamics; individual, group, crisis, and career counseling; consultation and collaboration; program development and evaluation; educational leadership; counselor supervision; and law and ethics, as demonstrated by clinical practice and/or teaching experience,
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional experience as a credentialed public School Counselor in a TK-12 setting and as a College Counselor (at either the community college or university setting),
- Expertise in providing clinical or counseling services to TK-16 students under the possession of a clinical license or specialized certification/credential,
- An established record of peer-reviewed scholarly publications and presentations.
- Demonstrated commitment to justice, diversity, anti-racism, and inclusion in counseling work.

The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary range is $5,450 to $11,994 per month (12 monthly payments per academic year); The anticipated hiring salary is $6,875 to $6,940. This position will be commensurate with experience and current CSUDH faculty salaries in the academic department/discipline. Faculty salaries are subject to budgetary authorization and any California State University System faculty contract increases. Summer research grants, moving expenses, start‐up funds, and a reduced teaching load may be available.

Background Check
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment.
