Professor of Music, Composition (with tenure)

The School of Music at Boston University’s College of Fine Arts invites applications for a full-time faculty member in the area of composition at the rank of Full Professor with tenure to participate in the instruction of music composition and to collaborate with our Center for New Music. The ideal candidate will have a substantial international performance profile with an extraordinary record of artistic production, student/alumni success, and administrative experience within an academic environment. Terminal degree desired, although demonstrated professional equivalent will be considered; previous teaching at the collegiate level is strongly desired. The position requires commitment to emergent forms of music production as well as fluency in new musical compositional techniques. The successful candidate will show evidence of collegial and professional working relationships with applied areas and exhibit an aptitude for leadership opportunities within the School of Music.

The Boston University School of Music was the first institution in the United States to grant a degree in music. Today, the School of Music trains musicians, educators, composers, and scholars in strong undergraduate and graduate programs. Each year the School of Music presents hundreds of public concerts, recitals, operas, and other performances, as part of the greater resources and vibrant scholarly community of Boston University as a whole, and the wider intellectual and musical offerings of the Boston metropolitan area.
