Bowling Green State University (BGSU) seeks confidential recommendations, nominations and expressions of interest for the position of Dean of Firelands College (“the College”). This is an excellent opportunity for an innovative and transformative leader to develop the vision for the College to meet the needs of the community, region, and State of Ohio. The campus of the College is located on 60 miles east of Bowling Green and two miles south of Lake Erie in Huron, Ohio.
The College, which opened in 1968 as a regional campus, is known for outstanding faculty, supportive staff, and affordable tuition. The College offers career and technical education leading to 18 associate degrees, 9 bachelor's degree programs and a variety of certificate programs in technical and occupational areas across three academic departments. BGSU seeks candidates with the demonstrated ability to collaboratively create and implement a vision for the College’s future. The successful candidate will understand the unique culture and offerings of a college located on a regional campus; foster excellence in teaching and student success; and enhance engagement with the local and regional communities as well as the state. The successful candidate will have exceptional interpersonal skills; significant leadership and administrative experience; the ability to engage and inspire faculty, staff, and students; and, be committed to fostering an environment that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The next dean will develop a vision and guide BGSU Firelands at a pivotal time in its history. This is an exciting opportunity to ensure BGSU Firelands is positioned to serve the needs of the greater region and state. The dean serves as both the chief academic officer of the College as well as the chief administrative officer of the campus and is responsible for both local and regional academic programming. The dean works in collaboration with BGSU departments for services including human resources, payroll, general counsel, capital planning, and others.
