Job Summary

Provides management for the Dental Hygiene program including program planning, staffing, management, coordination and evaluation. Provides instruction to post-secondary students in assigned content areas and other related activities. The incumbent will be working an 11 month contract.

Typical Job Functions

  • Performs managerial duties relating to the administration of the dental hygiene program
  • Hires adjunct faculty, part-time clinical staff and oversight dentist according to program needs
  • Supervises faculty and staff within the dental hygiene program and evaluates current and future personnel needs and performs yearly performance evaluations for direct reports
  • Reviews and approves leave requests, travel requests, and time-entry
  • Manages the program budget and provides yearly budget requests to the Department Chair
  • Tracks, purchases, approves, and reviews purchases of supplies and equipment
  • Maintains equipment used in the program and plans for future program equipment needs collaboratively with other dental programs
  • Works collaboratively with other dental programs to coordinate course schedules, clinical schedules, equipment needs etc.
  • Manages clinic operations collaboratively with other dental programs
  • Provides instruction to students in assigned dental hygiene courses and develops related instructional materials (such as syllabus, lectures, course materials, evaluation tools, classroom activities, and others)
  • Participates in statewide, college-level, and program-level planning and curriculum development
  • Ensures dental hygiene course, program and institutional assessments and reviews are completed and submitted by appropriate deadlines
  • Organizes and manages dental hygiene advisory committees to include: recommending members for committee appointment, holding meetings at least biannually, implementing recommendations, etc.
  • Serves as a student advisor for dental hygiene students
  • Participates in recruiting for the program
  • Develops and maintains good relationships with community stakeholders and other dental hygiene program managers statewide
  • Maintains program accreditation and performs all tasks related to program accreditation
  • Participates in college-wide accreditation tasks
  • Provides leadership within the College and community by promoting the mission and goals of the College
  • Maintains consistent office hours
  • Attends in-service meetings each semester
  • Attends graduation ceremonies
  • Participates on campus committees
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • A Master's Degree from an accredited institution
  • Graduate of a Dental Hygiene program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA)
  • Unencumbered Dental Hygiene License
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist
  • 1-3 years instructional experience
  • Incumbent must reside in Idaho (Currently CEI doesn’t sponsor H-1B Visas)
  • Additional Desired Qualifications

  • Experience managing and implementing budgets and budget procedures
  • 3-5 years experience in managerial positions including supervising employees, managing budgets and training
  • 3-5 years instructional experience
  • Bilingual (Spanish)

    Physical Demands and Work Environment:

    Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand and often uses repetitive hand motions.

    Background Investigations:
    Employment at College of Eastern Idaho will be contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background investigation and may require a credit and/or motor vehicle background investigation depending on the position. Please refer to Policy 225: Background Checks.
