Consists of a 15 hour work week Monday through Friday. Specific work hours to be agreed upon by the supervisor and the employee prior to the onset of employment.
Summary:This position is divided in to two equally critical roles: Career Coach and Internship Coordinator.
The Career Coach for Career Training programs works closely with program students to assess workplace readiness skills, provides coaching, career planning and helps students prepare for their job/internship search. The Career Coach will track student progress, ensuring development and implementation of collaborative student support model that includes employment preparation. After completion of the internship, the Career Coach provides students with guidance in preparing resumes and conducting job searches related to their training. In addition, the Career Coach will work closely with local employers to bring potential employers for classroom visits and or employer recruitment activities.
The Internship Program Coordinator will support Career Training activities by helping the program coordinators secure internship sites that are required for all career training programs in both the healthcare and business fields. The Internship Program
Coordinator will also be responsible for gathering and maintaining all documents related to the internship experience, assist coordinators in placing students at an appropriate internship site, and conduct site visits. This individual will also help students with job placement by providing leads and preparing students for the job search. The Internship Program Coordinator will work with the Dean to identify community needs, courses, and programs as needed. This is a high impact position which requires an individual who is skilled at networking and building partnerships.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Career Coach:
- Perform essential tasks for Career Programs including career coaching.
- Assist program students with career exploration through one-on-one meetings or group workshops.
- Compile student data through face to face or telephone contacts and follow-up surveys, enters information into Access database, and maintains database.
- Coordinate and participate in recruitment events for the Career Programs. Recruitment events may include, but are not limited to: those organized by Career Programs, college-wide activities and externally hosted events.
- Submit monthly reports as requested by the department/division supervisor. Maintain confidentiality of records.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Internship Coordinator:
- Place Career Program students in appropriate internships where they will gain valuable working experience using the knowledge and skills they have developed.
- Develop internship sites in the local community to support new and existing career programs.
- Collect, assess, and maintain requirements associated with the internship.
- Conduct site visits and assess the effectiveness of the learning site experience.
- Help to develop policies and procedures regarding expectations and requirements for the internship experience under the direction of the Career Programs-HealthCare Coordinator. Develop policy manuals, handbooks and documents accordingly.
- Help to prepare students for the job market through job coaching, resume development and interview skill preparation.
- Research and recommend to supervisor new programs/services that have potential to increase enrollment and sales revenue.
- Responsible for the coordination and promotion of Career Programs. Additional programs may be assigned as necessary.
- Assist in the development of materials and resources to promote programs in the department in coordination with the Career Programs – Healthcare Coordinator.
- Coordinate and participate in recruitment events for Career and Health Professions programs. Recruitment events may include, but are not limited to those organized by the Career Programs unit, college-wide activities and externally hosted events.
- Prepare and submit monthly, annual, and periodic reports as required.
- Conduct him/herself in a professional manner and exhibit a positive image for RACC at all times.
- Network with and/or partner with community businesses, agencies, or organizations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience:Required
- Associate’s Degree
- One year of experience in advising and enrollment, career placement, career planning/counseling field or adult education/instruction
Preferred
- Associate’s Degree in a business, healthcare, education or human service related field
- Experience working with adult learners in an educational setting
- Experience working with individuals with diverse academic needs
- Community College experience
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Ability to work well with people
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent one-on-one and group presentation skills
- Experience in maintaining positive relationships with a diverse student population
- Ability to communicate effectively and positively in writing, via telephone, e-mail, face to face, or using other media
- Strong follow-up skills
- Ability to provide exemplary customer service to a diverse customer base
- Ability to set and obtain short and long-term goals with measurable results
- Strong persuasive ability related to the value of post-secondary training and/or degree pursuit
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write proposals, reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students, instructors, college officials, officials of business and industry and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
