The Opportunity
The Windows Server and Azure Administrator will serve as a technical thought leader and SME for the University of Tennessee System Administration (UTSA) cloud ecosystem of partners, customers, and service providers. Position will plan, analyze, design, test, and deploy enterprise-scale Microsoft Azure cloud SaaS, IaaS and PaaS solutions. The position will be a technical subject matter expert on both cloud and on-premises Windows infrastructure systems.  The position will apply technical expertise in Microsoft cloud offerings to promote innovative enterprise solutions for the University of Tennessee.

 Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leads and executes the design and deployment of enterprise-scale Azure solutions and the connections to other cloud and on-premise systems.
  • Leads technical discussions and business functional requirements with UTSA IT leadership that drive decisions and implementation approaches focused on cloud-based solutions.
  • Designs architectures with Microsoft Azure and Power Platform to meet the University’s technical, security, and business needs.
  • Architects and designs solutions to meet functional and non-functional requirements in the Azure environment.
  • Responsible for ensuring the development and implementation of new systems, networks, and/or databases in Azure are built with security in mind.
  • Maintains and manages on-premise and cloud-based systems, networks, and/or databases independently.
  • Acts as the infrastructure lead on projects, including planning, managing resources, and delivering final products
  • Leads and executes the design and deployment of enterprise-scale Power Platform solutions.
  • Researches and trains on new systems, networks, and/or database technologies
  • Provides instruction, direction, and mentoring to more junior staff.
  • Follows and creates documentation (e.g. instructions, configurations, best practices, service information)
  • Responsible for overall work efforts in the development and implementation of new systems, networks, and/or databases
  • Researches and trains on new systems, networks, and/or database technologies
  • Provide SQL database administration
  • Maintains a current level of knowledge for all technologies (e.g. by reading, attending conferences, training, professional communication/networking)
  • Actively engages and promotes new technologies (e.g. through networking, presenting at conferences, providing training)
  • Other duties as required including leadership of new technology innovations for the University.



Qualifications

Requirements for Qualification 
The successful candidate will hold a high school diploma with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience working with Windows Server operation systems and 2 years experience working with Azure cloud.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Ability to architect and design secure technical solutions for Microsoft-centric solutions.
  • Knowledge of enterprise infrastructure solutions, including enterprise directories, on-premises hosting platforms, and datacenter storage and networking.
  • Knowledge of cloud system engineering principles and security considerations.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft-centric cloud architectures, including web, application, and database components.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to communicate and present complex information both verbally and in written form.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will hold an Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of experience with Azure Cloud, 2 years of experience working with Power Platform, SQL database administration, Azure Administrator Certification and working knowledge of promoting applications and collaboration through Azure DevOps.
