Visiting Scholar in Judaic Studies

The Judaic Studies program at W&M is a dynamic, multi-disciplinary
program that affords an exceptional and unusual educational
opportunity for students to cultivate an appreciation of the historic
role played by Jewish culture and the Jewish religion in the
development of human civilization; how Judaism, Jewish culture and
Jewish peoples have interacted with other cultures, traditions, and
religions; and how Judaism and Jewish culture have been represented
in various discourses, images, cinema, and disciplines.

The Judaic Studies Program at William & Mary is recruiting a pool of persons for possible part-time Visiting Scholar positions. This pool will be accessed ONLY when an opening arises. Your credentials will remain active as long as the pool position is available but no more than one year. After one year, if you are still interested, you must reapply to the current adjunct pool.Visiting scholars should be experts in their field and present topics of interest in Judaic Studies. Proposals should include a series of public lectures (minimum 2). And give examples of classes in which they could guest, and/or research they would conduct during their stay. This position will not be used to pay for one-time guest speakers or adjunct teaching positions.Candidates interested in this Visiting Scholar position should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, diversity statement, and a list of three references with contact information. In your cover letter, please specify the semester in which you would be available, potential lecture topics and/or research contributions that you are qualified to offer and would be interested in offering. If you have recently submitted an application for an instructional position at William & Mary via the online system your existing application documents can be easily uploaded to this position pool. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted. The review of applications is ongoing.

Minimum ABD in Religion, Judaic Studies, or a related field is required at the time the candidate begins the appointment.

A Ph.D. in Religion, Judaic Studies, or a related field is preferred. Extensive academic teaching and research experience is desirable. Experience in similar roles and capacities is preferred.
