The University of Pennsylvania's Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering is pleased to welcome applications for a Practice Professor faculty position. In conjunction with the School of Engineering and Applied Science, the department is developing new academic programs in the broad area of Energy and Sustainability.

We seek individuals with exceptional promise for, or a proven record of, excellence in teaching. The department and school aim to complement existing robust research activity with new curricular offerings in E&S. The candidate selected for this position will play a key role in developing academic programs in the Energy & Sustainability space, with a distinct engineering flavor. The opportunity for impact is considerable, and we are seeking an accomplished and dynamic individual to lead a vibrant interdisciplinary program in this space.

The candidate will be a full-time faculty member and will develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to engineering for energy applications, energy science and technology, energy markets, energy policy, environmental impacts of energy, and other related areas.

Our faculty members are expected to participate in departmental and school-level efforts to promote Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and to work closely with students to identify and address diversity challenges. Practice Professor appointments are typically made for multiple (3-5) academic years, depending on rank and the appointment is for 9 months per academic year. Appointees can elect to have their 9-month academic base salary paid over 9 or 12 months. Depending on need, Practice Professors may have the opportunity to earn up to 3 months of additional compensation by teaching during the summer period. Appointment at the rank of Practice Assistant Professor, Practice Associate Professor, or Practice Professor will be made according to the qualifications and experience of the candidate.

Qualifications
PhD in Chemical Engineering, or relevant discipline, or equivalent experience. A successful track record of scholarship (research &/or teaching &/or practice) in energy science, technology and policy (or closely related fields) is expected.
