About the College

Since 1908, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) has provided unique, hands-on learning opportunities for students. ABAC values a real-life application to learning in addition to the rigorous classroom work and encourages students to get involved in as many possible ways when it comes to enriching their learning experience. ABAC’s nationally recognized faculty, small class sizes, and interactive learning environments set students up for academic excellence and success in a variety of fields after graduation.

A member of the University System of Georgia, ABAC has a Fall 2022 enrollment of 3,649 students from 155 of Georgia’s 159 counties, 58 of Florida’s 67 counties, 18 states (90% from Georgia), and 24 countries with campuses in Tifton and Bainbridge. ABAC’s offerings have grown a great deal since our founding and many years of history as a two-year college. In 2008, ABAC began offering bachelor level degrees and today ABAC has 14 bachelor’s degrees.

An ABAC education is centered upon a family environment with excellent teaching at its core. Faculty and staff across campus work tirelessly to engage ABAC students in life-changing experiences and impact them with one-on-one care and concern. Those foundational principles make their way into everything that happens on campus - including the work of dedicated professors and staff. Nearly 1,400 students live on campus in ABAC Place and ABAC Lakeside.

ABAC welcomed a new President, on August 1, 2022. who has an extensive track record of effective leadership, innovation and developing the workforce. Under new leadership, ABAC will be laser focused on the mission and the need to develop students, through hands- on learning, for careers in which they will experience optimum success.

The Opportunity

Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College seeks an energetic and driven leader for the Vice President for Enrollment, Marketing and Communications. Reporting to the President and serving as a member of the President’s Cabinet, the Vice President for Enrollment, Marketing and Communications is responsible for leading and implementing a unified vision for enrollment management, for the development and execution of strategies for internal and external marketing and communications, and for strengthening the brand and identity of a 115-year-old legacy institution. The Vice President for Enrollment, Marketing and Communications oversees the development of strategic marketing plans for the college including outreach and advertising designed to attract and recruit students from targeted segments consistent with the college mission and core population. The Vice President for Enrollment, Marketing and Communications provides comprehensive leadership, effective planning, program development, data analysis and institutional coordinator for enrollment management, marketing, and communication.

The Vice President for Enrollment, Marketing and Communication will develop a multi-year institutional enrollment plan to serve as a planning guide. The Vice President will also develop recruitment plans college wide and manage all recruitment efforts. The Vice President for Enrollment, Marketing and Communication will develop effective marketing strategies to grow enrollment and other institutional marketing objectives. The Vice President will work collaboratively with the Vice Presidents and Academic Deans to improve internal and external communication and institutional planning.

Required Qualifications

The Vice President for Enrollment, Marketing, and Communications should exhibit a thorough understanding of marketing and enrollment management concepts and strategies. Five plus years of demonstrated progressively responsible leadership experience in higher education admissions, enrollment management, marketing and communication are required. An understanding of predictive modeling, and adult education along with evidence of strong communication and relationship-building skills, analytical ability, and familiarity with current technology utilized in the development and execution of comprehensive marketing and recruitment plans are key components for success. Demonstrated experience reflecting a successful record of leadership; strategic planning, marketing, implementation, and goal attainment; team building; and general management.

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for leading and implementing a unified vision for enrollment management, for the development and execution of strategies for internal and external marketing and communications, and for strengthening the brand and identity of a 115-year-old legacy institution.

MAJOR DUTIES

    Creates and implements strategies for a unified vision for enrollment management and marketing in partnership with faculty, staff, and the ABAC leadership team.Provides oversight for Enrollment Management and Marketing.Provides campus-wide vision and leadership for the development, implementation, assessment, maintenance, delivery, and integrity of all enrollment management and marketing activities.Works with staff, Provost, academic deans, administrators, and other college constituents to develop and implement initiatives that support and advance student learning and success.Provides support for traditional and special college events.

    Envisions, leads, and manages the College’s integrated strategic marketing and communications efforts.Serves as a public face and recognized identity for the College, one who can articulate the value and advocate for its mission.Works with a range of academic and nonacademic units across the campus to ensure the recognition and understanding of a consistent value proposition by all stakeholders. Guides and manages the execution of the ABAC Strategic Plan relative to Enrollment Management and Marketing.

    Provides executive-level support for the work of the President. Assists the President in establishing institutional goals.Provides timely reports to the President on Enrollment Management and Marketing efforts. Assists the President with planning and coordinating resources and staff in preparation for external events.Assists the President with developing remarks, media statements and preparing for interviews as needed and in coordination with the Director of Public Relations.

    Provides effective leadership for staff, including hiring, motivating, mentoring, supervising, and evaluating personnel.Hires and onboards personnel.Conducts performance plans and annual evaluations.

    Maintains a highly engaged relationship with students and remains visible throughout the campus community.

    Performs a variety of related duties required for the position.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS

    The President assigns work in terms of unit goals and objectives. The supervisor reviews work through conferences, reports, and observation of unit activities.
GUIDELINES

    Guidelines include the ABAC Strategic Plan, Student Handbook, FERPA regulations, Title IX regulations, and federal and state guidelines. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application. This position develops unit guidelines.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK

    The work consists of varied management duties. The need to develop effective responses to external factors influencing enrollment management and marketing contributes to the complexity of the position.The purpose of this position is to direct the College’s enrollment management, recruiting, marketing, and communication efforts.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT

    The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects.The work is typically performed in an office. Some travel is required.

This position has supervision over assigned units, functions, and/or areas.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Terminal degree from an accredited institution preferred.Master’s degree from an accredited institution required.More than five years of higher education administrative or leadership experience.
