Under the general supervision of the Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Dean of Health and Public Services leads the associated academic teams and develops programs related to Law Enforcement, Fire Science, Emergency Medical Services, Nursing, Substance Use Disorder, Human Services and other occupation-related areas. The Dean provides strategic expertise and operational oversight in achieving College goals through programs and activities in the above academic areas, as well as any future academic programs. The Dean leads Associate Deans and faculty in developing and implementing the full range of academic products offered by the College.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Health and Public Services Program Leadership

  • Lead the continuous development of the teams’ academic plan and monitoring of strategies to achieve the goals of their plan, in support of the College Academic Plan.
  • Support program teams in their development and delivery of quality educational programs that align with the vision, mission, values, Core Abilities, and strategic priorities of Nicolet College.
  • Establish and articulate a long-term vision for this instructional division that creates and maintains an innovative environment conducive to excellence in teaching and learning. Develop new programs in alignment with the vision.
  • Develop and enforce academic policies within the school.
  • Represent the College in the communities by developing and maintaining appropriate relationships with area employers, high schools, and community organizations, as well as regional, state, and national agencies and organizations.
  • Engage in Program Advisory Committee meetings and other community-focused collaborative meetings.
  • Ensure that the schools’ programs achieve and maintain appropriate accreditation.
  • Facilitate faculty meetings and activities to support their growth and development.
  • Collaborate with other College employees to recruit and retain students, ensuring they receive a quality education and the support they need to succeed academically.
  • Facilitate Teaching Excellence
  • Confirm or validate employee assignments, supervise and evaluate full-time faculty in accordance with FQAS standards, faculty assurances and annual contracts as needed.
  • Promote team collaboration with academic and student support systems to meet the needs of a diverse student population. Promote equity and inclusion.
  • In collaboration with Associate Deans and faculty, resolve student concerns and complaints.
  • Promote data-informed decision-making for program delivery and continuous quality improvement.
  • Administrative Leadership
  • Develop and manage budgets for areas of responsibility, including operational, capital, and grant budgets.
  • Recruit and retain full- and part-time faculty to meet program needs. Recruit and supervise other employees as needed. Provide onboarding for, and evaluate the performance of, individuals supervised.
  • Ensure programs’ compliance with college policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that the College remains accredited by ensuring compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Participate in College professional development and participate in WTCS system meetings related to areas of responsibility.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university.Five years’ supervisory experience leading a team of professionals in the delivery of a program or service.Preferred Qualifications:
    Academic degree or significant formal training in Leadership.Experience as an academic administrator of public services or health occupations in higher education.Full-time technical or community college teaching experience.Experience with flexible program design and delivery.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    Knowledge of higher education practices and instructional technology.Exemplary interpersonal and communications skills.Team leadership skills, with ability to coach and evaluate performance.Ability to establish and meet team goals and commitments.Ability to promote an educational philosophy that places the primary emphasis on student learning in the design, delivery, and evaluation of learning.Ability to analyze and evaluate operations with a continuous quality improvement mindset.Ability to foster and maintain positive working relationships across the College and District, working with diverse student, employee, and community populations.Physical Demands:

  • Work in office area as well as throughout the College. Sit at workstation for prolonged periods of time, and move intermittently during working hours.

    Compensation:
    The salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Includes a comprehensive benefits package.
