Job SummaryManage assigned institutional compliance functions to ensure university compliance with a variety of state and federal regulations, grant requirements, ethics guidelines, etc.
ResponsibilitiesTypical Allocation of Duties
Provide guidance - 20%
Conduct investigations, audits, and/or research to ensure compliance with applicable legal, regulatory, and/or accreditation-related guidelines.
Advocate - 20%
Advocate for the achievement and documentation of institutional best practices in compliance-related subject matter areas.
Develop policies and procedures - 20%
Assist in the development of institutional policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and guidelines.
Collaborate with others - 20%
Collaborate with subject matter experts and other stakeholders to help ensure institutional compliance.
Prepare reports - 20%
Prepare a variety of regular and special reports documenting university compliance.
Supervisor Expectations
- Set up new sponsored awards. Schedule orientation meetings (and other meetings as needed) with PIs. Communicate frequently with PIs to keep them apprised of the project's financial developments and assist them in the administration of their award(s). Approve all program expenditures before being sent to Financial Services to be expensed. On a monthly basis review Budget Progress Reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with sponsor, OMB, EDGAR and university guidelines. Review all grants/contracts Budget Progress Reports to ensure accurate posting of expenditures and review budget line balances. Monitor encumbrances on a monthly basis, ensuring the procurement obligations for the grant/contract are accurate and PO(s) are closed out timely. Ensure the program operates in accordance with sponsor, OMB, EDGAR, and university guidelines. Notify PIs, CO, Deans and Dept Heads, starting at 90 days, that an award is due to expire. Prepare Time & Effort reports (including Cost Share time by semester) for submission to PI and grant personnel for certification. Maintain Time & Effort report documents. Provide training to Deans, Dept Heads, PIs and Staff on Time & Effort reporting principles and on how to properly complete Time & Effort form. Experience with Microsoft Excel.Experience with Accurate Background.Bilingual.

$26.25/hr
Conditions of EmploymentEmployment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check. Position May Require Credit Check (if using P-Card, working with Cash, etc.).
Position Requires completion of VSU’s Annual Compliance Training course (such as State Business Transactions, Drug Free Workplace, Anti-Harassment Policy, Introduction to Information Security, Workers Compensation, Motor Vehicle Policy, USG Ethics Policy, Conflict of Interest/ Outside Activities Policy, Leave Procedures for Faculty and Staff, Georgia Open Records Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and Contracts 101. Supervisory positions require training in FMLA and Worker’s Compensation.
