Position:
The College of Business and Economics invites applications for a non-tenure track, 9-month Lecturer position in the Business Excellence Program in the Department of Finance beginning August 2023.

Qualifications:
Master’s degree in communications, professional writing or a closely related field plus 1-3 years of college teaching experience from an accredited institution. Top notch business communication skills, both written and oral, are critical for this position as well as the ability to teach those skills.  The candidate must also be committed to meeting Towson’s mission by serving the department, college, and university.

Lecturers in the College of Business and Economics are annually reviewed by peers, which is an essential feature of effective teaching. Being flexible to the scheduling needs of the department is required. The position calls for the person hired to be able to teach at all campuses where Towson University class are offered including the main campus and the TU Northeast (TUNE) campus in Harford County.

Responsibilities:
Teaching load of 12 (face-to-face) credit hours per semester. The candidate would teach Business Communications (BUSX301) in the College of Business and Economics, which also includes teaching career preparation skills such as resume, cover letter, thank you letter drafting, and professional employment interviewing skills. A successful candidate also would provide classroom instruction, prepare for courses, continuously improve subject matter competence, create teaching and learning materials, meet with and advise students on class assignments and academic progress, review, give feedback, grade written assignments and revisions of those documents, and deliver feedback and evaluations of oral presentations. Once hired, retaining professional qualification requires evidence of continuous learning during the most recent five-year period. Lecturers who remain employed in their area of expertise are deemed to be maintaining currency. Additional responsibilities include advising of majors/minors and actively serving on committees at the department, CBE, and/ or University levels.
