Description
Founded in 1869, Claflin University is an independent, liberal arts, co-educational, historically black institution that is affiliated with the United Methodist Church. Claflin is located in Orangeburg, situated in the midlands of South Carolina between Columbia and Charleston. The University offers convenient access to beaches, mountains, and two major interstate highways from the relaxed environment of a small town. The student populace consists of predominantly native South Carolinians with others emerging from 23 states and 18 countries.
Responsibilities
The selected individual will teach courses in undergraduate, graduate, and online programs. The individual is expected to conduct research in his/her area of specialization. Other responsibilities include student advisement, serving on University and School of Education Committees, and performing other duties within the scope of the position. The following concentrations and/or majors offered within the School of Education include Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Middle Level Education, and Secondary Education Programs in Art, English, Mathematics, and Music. A commitment to Claflin’s intellectual and teaching mission is required.
QualificationsQualifications
A doctoral degree in the respective discipline with experience in teaching and research is required. ABD candidates with expected completion date by summer 2023 may be considered. Must be committed to the mission of the University and the School of Education. Experience with the CAEP Accreditation process is required.
Salary
Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
