Job Summary

South Georgia State College is seeking part-time faculty to teach Managment, Business, and Psychology classes in our undergraduate business program. The successful candidate will teach at our Douglas and Waycross campus. The courses will be delivered in a hybrid structure (combination of face-to-face and online) in 8 week term sessions.

We are building a faculty pool to support our enrollment, which means teaching assignments will on an as needed basis. We are seeking faculty that are student-centered and create a learning environment that is intuitive, easy to understand, collaborative, interactive and engaging. Faculty will provide quality education and maintain high standards of academic excellence in teaching.

    Teach adjunct MGMT, BUSA, PSYC classes in the Bachelor of Science in Management programAbility to teach at all SGSC campuses and sites.Meet each class as scheduled at the designated time and place and for the designated length of time.At the beginning of each course, provide each student with a syllabus per the guidelines in the faculty handbook.Develop new courses and course materials as appropriate.Stay current in the teaching discipline(s) and the pedagogy of that discipline.Submit correct proof rosters and grades in Banner by the assigned deadlines. Record daily attendance according to institutional policy.Submit assessment data to discipline committee chair in a timely manner.Other duties as assigned

    Each faculty member reports to the appropriate School Dean.

    Guidelines include college policies and procedures, department policies and Board of Regents policy and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection and interpretation in application.

    The work consists of varied administrative duties and coordination of primary functional areas. Strict regulations contribute to the complexity of the positionSuccess in this position contributes to the efficiency, effectiveness, and regulatory compliance of all department operations

Required Qualifications
  • Applicants must have a Master of Business Administration degree or a Master’s degree and 18 semester hours at the graduate level in the teaching discipline.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or D.B.A. in Business Administration, Management, Organizational Behavior or Leadership
  • Three years teaching experience

Waycross College is a two-year college and one of the newest institutions in the University System of Georgia. It is located in rural southeast Georgia and serves a ten-county area adjacent to the Okefenokee Swamp. Five major buildings, including a new state of the art Student Services Center, are located on the 150 acre campus. Off-campus classes are offered in the city of Hinesville.

The College is widely recognized as a place for students who want to enter the job market with a solid foundation in liberal arts or transfer successfully to a baccalaureate program at a four-year institution. The College does an excellent job of preparing its students for both.

Waycross College is a non-residential college of 980 students. The student body is diverse, and the average age is 25. Students may choose to major in one of 30 associate degree programs in areas such as business, criminal justice, history, psychology, and teacher education. Flexible class scheduling and an academic support center assist students in making the most of educational opportunities. Waycross College students perform well on the Regents’ Test and have good success upon transferring to four-year institutions. The Adults Start College Grant helps returning non-traditional students achieve success in higher education.

Partnerships with the community are particularly evident at Waycross College. The College is an active supporter of the Okefenokee Arts and Entertainment Alliance.

There is no lack of outside activities for students. Concerts, special lectures, social events, cultural exhibits and intramural sports are just a few of the extracurricular activities offered at Waycross College. Students also may participate in leadership opportunities through Phi Theta Kappa, the Multicultural Student Alliance, the Drama Club and Outdoor Adventurers Club.

Waycross College was founded in 1970 by the University System of Georgia to serve the growing southeast Georgia region. Classes began in 1976.
