Job Title: Assistant Goalkeeping Coach for Division I Ice Hockey

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary: This 10 month temporary position reports to the Associate Athletic Director. The primary responsibilities of a successful goalkeeper coach are the design, oversight and implementation of goalkeeper training for the men’s and women’s hockey teams.

General Purpose: The Goalkeeping Assistant will assist both head coaches in the successful operation of the programs and specifically in the execution of practices and skill development in relation to goalkeeping.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the design, oversight, and implementation of goalkeeper training for Division I varsity teams in collaboration with head coaches.
  • Instruct and teach goalkeepers in the fundamentals of their position, while providing a strong and affirmative leadership for all student/athletes.
  • Oversee the mental and physical preparation of goalkeepers for competition. This includes individual skill instruction and evaluating the athlete’s performance and progress to ensure peak performance during practice and contests
  • Participate in the planning, organizing, and execution of all practices and games
  • Scout and evaluate opponents’ performance and recommend game strategy based on the evaluation.
  • Commit to adhering to all rules and regulations of the Athletic Department, University, conference affiliations and the NCAA.
  • Support the CU Athletics’ mission of excellence in the classroom, community and competition while furthering the strategic plan for Clarkson.
  • Other duties as assigned

Remote Workdays - This is a full-time on-campus position with remote workdays
offered as needed during the season and only if approved by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certified.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to NCAA rules and regulations.

Experience:

  • Previous experience working with NCAA Athletes
  • Ability to teach and coach male and female student-athletes
  • Ability to inspire and motivate student-athletes
  • Prior coaching experience

  • Ability to lift and move heavy items weighing up to 45 pounds on a frequent basis and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents.
  • Ability to works indoors & outdoors
  • Early morning and evening work is expected, as needed.
  • The employee is expected to adhere to University policies.
