Job Description:

This position is part of a team that supports faculty and staff in the UF Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) and College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS) through the CALS Center for Online Learning and Technology (COLT). The OPS Program Assistant will communicate with faculty, staff and external clients and be involved with overall COLT operations that support teaching and Extension faculty in developing and delivering online courses and programs.

Tasks and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist with development of training and resource materials and communications for IFAS and CALS faculty.
  • Assist with course development activities (e.g., accessibility checks, uploading course materials, formatting PowerPoints).
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to the UF/IFAS Extension Online Learning platform.
  • Manage captioning workflows, check caption files for accuracy, and edit captions.
  • Assist with logistics of training programs and events.
  • Participate in general CALS COLT operations, including phone and email support for basic external and internal client technical issues and questions.

Expected Salary:

$17/hr

Minimum Requirements:
Associate's degree in an appropriate area and two years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in an area relevant to the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences.
  • Experience developing education and training materials.
  • Experience teaching or training in online delivery formats.
  • Strong attention to detail, dedication to accuracy, and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, on the phone, and in writing.
  • Comfortable using technology for educational, data entry, and communication purposes (Microsoft Office tools including Teams; Adobe Acrobat; videoconferencing, etc.), and willingness to learn and use new technologies.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Spanish language proficiency a plus.


Special Instructions to Applicants:

The work schedule will be in the office 30 hours per week, Monday-Friday, between the hours of 8am and 5pm, with flexibility in the final weekly schedule.
