The Augusta University Libraries lead the organization in providing comprehensive resources and services in support of the education, research and scholarship, clinical care, and outreach and economic development strategic focus areas of our research university and academic medical center.

Job Summary
Working under the Information Services Librarian, the Daytime Manager of Access and Building Services position is one of two staff managers responsible for maintaining adequate desk coverage. This position ensures the opening and smooth operation of the Libraries' services, including coverage for the Information Desk, maintaining and developing the Library's circulating collection, fulfilling Inter-Library Loan requests, and supervising Greenblatt Library Access Services' daytime staff and student assistants. The Daytime Manager of Access and Building Services coordinates building access with library administration, facilities, IT, and AUPD. This position provides direct supervision for daytime employees at Reese Library and assistance for any building or staffing emergencies as needed. This position would also ensure the safety of the building for employees and students by providing building managerial duties.

Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Being responsible for operations of the library including supervision of Access Services staff during regular business hours.
  • Coordinating with Facilities on building opening, closing, and repairs; Assume responsibility for the maintenance, repair, improvement, and security of the library building and its furnishings during the normal workday. Serving as the Emergency Building Coordinator by working with CeP AR and keeping apprised of all new emergency procedures, policies, training classes, and evacuation drills.
  • Preparing and revising library staff schedules for information desk coverage. Assisting patrons with locating library materials, circulation of library materials and equipment, questions related to library accounts, user requests, and all other services; Provide back-up assistance for front desk services.
  • Ensuring interlibrary loans are processed and completed in a timely manner and verifying the processing and handling of course and general library reserves.
  • Providing general assistance to users, referring users to library faculty, staff or other departments depending on the complexity of the inquiry. Addressing patron concerns and resolve any conflicts regarding library procedures and policies. If necessary, refer the patron to the Information Services Librarian.
  • Serve as stacks supervisor ensuring collection is developed, maintained shifted and weeded as needed.
  • Manages patron loads, individual accounts, and processes fme payments. Places holds in Banner for delinquent patrons under the direction of Information Services Librarian.
  • Training new library staff members and student assistants in various aspects of their job, and ensuring mandatory, yearly training is completed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure provision of efficient library services.


Required Qualifications
Educational RequirementsBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with one year of professional library, information services, or education experience; OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of progressively responsible library experience; OR High school diploma, GED or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization and six (6) years of progressively responsible library experience. Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and verbal/written communication skills.Professional RequirementsDemonstrated management experience

  • Familiarity with health sciences or academic library standards, procedures, and platforms
  • Experience with ALMA (Integrated Library System) GIL-Find Online Catalog, GIL Express, GALILEO (Banner, the students and other record management system), WorldCat/OCLC, ILLiad/DOCLINE (software for lending library material outside Augusta University), and TouchNet (credit card/web check payment management).

  • Ability to learn and adapt to changing library operational systems and technologies
  • Demonstrated detail-oriented and strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Experience writing and documenting processes, procedures, and policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and cultivate cooperative, positive working relationships with co-workers, students, faculty, staff, and the general public on behalf of the University Libraries
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgement and provide outstanding external and internal customer service.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite


Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)

Pay Grade: 14

Salary: Minimum $36,197.00/Annually - Midpoint $48,866/Annually

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
