Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Head Football Coach and Director of Player Personnel, the On-Campus Recruiting for Football will assist in the direction and administration of all recruiting activities for the Aztec football program. The incumbent is responsible for developing recommendations with the planning, organization, and execution of all recruiting activities and functions on and off-campus for the football program, and for activities for official recruiting visits. Independent planning, development, and maintenance of the recruiting database and assisting in the daily operations of the football program. Ensures compliance with NCAA, Mountain West Conference, and university and state rules, policies and procedures.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position with the possibility of reappointment. This position is designated as exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

Department Summary

The Department of Athletics, utilizing the services of over 150 employees, is responsible for the intercollegiate athletics program at San Diego State University. Currently, there are 18 sport programs, approximately 550 student-athletes, and 17 offices in the department. The offices include the following: The Aztec Club/Development, Administration, Athletic Medicine, Business Office, Compliance, External Corporate Sales, Equipment, Event Management/Facilities and Operations, Human Resources, Information Technology, Marketing, Media Relations, Strength and Conditioning, Student-Athlete Academic Support Services, Ticket Office, and Video.

Education and Experience

Entry into this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.

Key Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Access, PowerPoint, ARMS, and various recruiting software packages is preferred.
  • One or more years of general office clerical work is preferred.
  • Some experience in intercollegiate athletics, especially in a Division I football office.
  • General knowledge of football is preferred.
  • Ability to learn office and football terminology.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with fellow employees and coaches, and other campus staff, faculty, and student-athletes.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends, and occasional travel with football team.
  • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $5,417 per month.

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,170 - $7,545 per month.
