About the Department

The University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics competes at the highest level of intercollegiate athletics with the vision to reach Next Level Success for all 18 varsity teams and more than 500 student-athletes. The Bearcats have a proud athletics history, winning eight national championships and 117 conference titles. The Cincinnati men's basketball team is among the 15 winningest programs all-time, while the football team became the first American Athletic Conference program to compete in the College Football Playoff in 2021. Olympic gold medalist volleyball player Jordan Thompson, NBA Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson and Major League Baseball legend Sandy Koufax are among the several luminaries who have competed as Bearcats.

UC student-athletes collectively posted a 3.387 overall GPA in the fall of 2021 with 78 percent earning spots on the Honor Roll.

Job Overview

UC Athletics is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Director of NCAA Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) to join our team. This is a full-time position, salaried, with a comprehensive benefits package. The position will be appointed at the Assistant Director or Director level depending on skills and experience.

The successful candidate will be responsible for serving as a liaison to the NIL General Manager on NIL-related matters between all relevant internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have experience in educating businesses, student-athletes, and all relevant stakeholders in NCAA NIL policies.

Essential Functions
  • Lead overview and improvement project for all deal data currently reported through INFLCR and share frequent reports with UC coaches and staff.
  • Build comprehensive strategy and manage @GoBearcatsNIL as part of this and use the platform to follow / interact with all UC athletes.
  • Assist in the creation of personalized student-athlete digital media strategies
  • Create and keep relevant dynamic brand slides for coaches and administrators to access for external presentations.
  • Educate interested brands and businesses with relevant NIL information.
  • Support virtual and in-person NIL education for all athletics staff, community members, and campus.
  • Encourage disclosures and maintain tracking of disclosed NIL activities
  • Develop and implement an education strategy for Cincinnati athletes and teams that delivers opportunities across campus in alignment with university, conference, NCAA, state, and federal guidelines
  • Support NIL General Manager on NIL-related matters between all relevant internal and external stakeholders
  • Stay updated on the latest NIL trends and best practices, including legislative advancements, NCAA compliance regulations, and vendor landscape evolutions
  • Research and benchmark collegiate NIL industry and stay current with relevant market trends and conditions
  • Regularly participate in NIL staff meetings and discussions to create department cohesion
  • Maintain highest level of confidentiality, both within organization, applicable university, and other external entities
  • Communication and collaboration with the compliance office to ensure appropriate monitoring of NIL activities related to eligibility and NIL agents.
  • Liaison with UC Marketing, Communications, and sports properties regarding university marks issues.
Required Education
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
Required Experience

One (1) year of program coordination experience.

Additional Qualifications Considered
  • The individual in this position must be able to work some nights and weekends and travel as needed.
  • 3 years of experience in a similar role within a collegiate athletics program.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of NCAA rules and regulations regarding NIL.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.

  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
