Job Description:

The Placement Advisor is part of a dynamic team that is responsible for the critical process of matching applicants and participants to a variety of degree and non-degree academic programs. In this role you will conduct research and advise on academic and training opportunities that best match participant’s academic goals and sponsoring program priorities. The Placement Advisor will establish new, and cultivate existing, relationships with a variety of university offices at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the US and abroad. The Placement Advisor develops competitive and appropriate submission plans on behalf of participants and apply for admission and financial assistance on their behalf. He/she will track progress from start to finish and report on the applications’ status to both internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Functions:

For assigned caseload, conducts review of all submitted applications to ensure they accuracy and completion.

Reviews participants targeted fields of study identifying suitable academic programs matching study goals and sponsor priorities.

Advises participants on options, creates academic submission plans, manages application process ensuring that applications are submitted by appropriate deadlines and documents meet department and university requirements.

Serves as student and sponsor advocate; handles all correspondence between schools and students responding to general and specific questions, inquiries and correspondences and troubleshoot issues.

Prepare and host webinars with participants and partners on various topics throughout the placement cycle.

Prepare and send survey to participants and partners as needed; Seeks admission and funding; announces admission decisions and suggests final placements that will further interests of participant and sponsor goals.

Maintain and update resources for assigned caseload.

Generates placement reports for various audiences, including schools and sponsors.

The Institute of International Education (“IIE”) has a hybrid work environment that allows team members a combination of in-office work and telework at any of the locations listed above.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

Requires a Bachelor's degree and at least two years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of U.S. and International higher education system and admissions process preferred.

STEM background or experience working with STEM related fields a plus.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, and negotiation skills.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as contracts, policy and procedure manuals and write complex reports and correspondence.

Previous experience working with an extranet, web, database software, CRM system and social media networks preferred.

Salary Range:

$50,039 - $63,987.

A candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, job-related knowledge, skills, abilities, internal organizational equity, and geographic region.
