General Statement of Job:
The Financial Analyst conducts analysis of financial data to ensure accuracy, consistency, reasonableness, internal controls and proper application of accounting principles.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Develops reports to collect financial data.
  2. Analyzes current and past financial data and performance.
  3. Prepares reports and projections based on analysis.
  4. Prepares financial reports, charts, tables and other exhibits as requested.
  5. Collaborates with Systems Analyst for automation of current reports.
  6. Prepares trend analysis and compares to historical data.
  7. Checks for reasonableness of financial data.
  8. Investigates and reports any inconsistencies or improprieties.
  9. Analyzes data to ensure proper accounting procedures were followed.
  10. Identifies financial status by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts.
  11. Provides trends and forecasts.
  12. Improves financial status by analyzing results, monitoring variances, identifying trends, and recommending actions.
  13. Reconciles transactions by comparing and correcting data.
  14. Increases productivity by developing automated accounting applications.
  15. Works with all Business Office departments to identify valuable analyses.
  16. Demonstrates and applies appropriate understanding/working knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls.
  17. Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops/trainings.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Education and Experience:
  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required.
  2. At least three (3) years of accounting experience, preferably in a higher education institution.
  3. At least three (3) years of experience with a financial records system
