Description:

The Department of Sociology and Program of Criminology at Hofstra University seeks part-time, adjunct instructors or adjunct assistant professors for sociology courses in the following areas: Introduction to Sociology, Sociology of Health and Illness (and other health-related courses), Sociology of Race and Ethnicity, Social Justice and Environmental Justice.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaching core courses in Sociology, as named above.
  • In-person classes.
  • Hold in-person office hours—one hour per class.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate students with diverse backgrounds and be committed to equitable and inclusive pedagogy.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Sociology required.
  • Successful candidates will have demonstrated a commitment to promoting equity, diversity and inclusion in an educational environment.

Preferred Quals Summary:

  • Sociology Doctoral students and PhDs
