Description

The full-time faculty member has the primary responsibility to teach university-level courses in their areas of expertise. The faculty member also develops new courses as needed, prepares laboratory materials, and is active in university and professional affairs.

Specifically, full-time faculty members are expected to meet these requirements and fulfill these responsibilities:

• Uphold the Faculty Canons and Values found in the Faculty Handbook.

• Teach assigned courses in their area(s) of academic expertise of 11 courses or 32 credits per calendar year.

• Be prepared for each trimester of teaching by updating course lectures, assignments, materials, student resources, textbooks etc. Be prepared for and familiar with all course materials and assignments prior to the first day of class.

• Perform administrative duties (attendance-taking, post of grades and feedback, etc.) in an accurate and timely manner as defined by the relevant policy.

• Support students in and out of class through posted office hours and/or by appointment, either in-person or virtual.

• Mentor students and provide career and professional advice.

• Monitor student success and report concerns to Student Services daily.

• Support retention programs by proactive engagement in academic and non-academic support services.

• Embrace continuous improvement as an instructor and professional/practitioner by following the Faculty Performance Review and Development policies.

• Participate in relevant departmental activities such as meetings, hiring and mentoring of new faculty, or related duties.

• Under the direction of the Department Director, participate in the hiring, supervision, and evaluation of full-time and adjunct faculty as appropriate.

• Support Admissions initiatives through participation in campus-wide activities such as open houses and special events.

• Provide service to the University by participating in activities such as the Faculty Senate committees, student clubs, or University events.

• Contribute to program review and institutional assessment.

• Perform other relevant duties as assigned by Department Director or Provost in a timely and collegial manner.

Qualifications
  • DEEP KNOWLEDGE IN A COMBINATION OF THE DISCIPLINES BELOW:
    • Digital / Traditional Animation (2d &/or 3D)
    • Digital Illustration (2D &/or 3D)
    • Traditional Illustration/Sculpting
    • 3D Modeling (Maya)
    • Visual Storytelling / Storyboarding
    • Character Design
    • Animated Film Production
  • MINIMUM CREDENTIALS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
    • BA in related discipline
    • 5+ Years Industry Experience
    • 1 - 2 Years of teaching or team leadership experience
  • STRONGLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
    • MA / MFA in related discipline
    • 3-5+ Years Teaching Experience at College or University level
