Job Summary

The Lead Network Security Administrator oversees and manages all network security systems that support the information technology infrastructure of the College. This position is an integral part of the Enterprise Network team and is responsible for the administration, maintenance and troubleshooting of multiple enterprise-wide systems. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees.

Duties & Responsibilities
    Manages the infrastructure and administration of CheckPoint Firewalls, Network Access Control, and Load Balancing solutions among othersManages the development, implementation, and evaluation of network security tools to meet the organizational needsOversees configuration changes to improve system securitySupports vulnerability remediation activitiesSupports security-related assessments and auditsMonitors and maintains the network security systems for security incidents and investigates causesManages and coordinates the lifecycle device management of network security systemsAssists in troubleshooting a wide variety of client/user network security issues and acts as an escalation point for these issuesWorks closely with other IT groups to coordinate system upgrades and installations of new productsManages and maintains system documentationProvides operational leadership and project management oversightPerforms other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
    Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or other closely related field and seven (7) of progressive experience in implementing complex network and network security technologiesAll degrees must be from a regionally accredited institutionKnowledge of firewalls and load balancing systemsKnowledge of authentication and access controlKnowledge of security systems architecture and designKnowledge of operations security procedural and technical controlsStrong project management skills with the ability to ensure completion of department initiatives and recommendationsAdvance knowledge of network technologies (load balancing, firewalls, IPS, shaping, policing, routing, switching)Expertise in Internal Protocols (IP, TCP, UDP, DNS, DHCP, NTP, HTTP)Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituenciesStrong written and oral communication skillsAbility to works successfully in a multi-ethnic/ multi-cultural environment with students, faculty, and staff
Essential Position

This function/position has been designated as "critical". This means that it has job duties that affect the security, safety or physical operation of the College, and are required to work at the Emergency Operations Center and/or have access to the incident scene once normal campus operations have been suspended.

Additional Requirements

The final candidate is to successfully complete a background screening and reference check process.
