Reporting to the Director of Payroll, you will assist the Director with all university payroll operations.

  • Updating of wages and other payroll related data
  • Accurate processing of semi-monthly, biweekly, part-time faculty and miscellaneous payrolls
  • Interact with internal and external customers to resolve payroll related matters
  • Interact with HR partners, finance and other departments as needed to provide necessary payroll information
  • Balancing payroll records to federal and state payroll tax returns and preparation of federal and state reports on an as needed basis
  • Preparation of month end payroll reports, including but not limited to payroll and overtime variance reports
  • Prepare ad hoc reports as requested
  • Stay up to date on payroll regulations and legislature, have a thorough working knowledge of University bargaining unit contracts and university policies
  • Applies acquired knowledge to assist with payroll inquiries outside the scope of the day-to-day processing, inclusive of relocation, FLSA laws, reaching DOL regulations and interpretations of the current ordinances, and employer level taxation
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Prior experience with payroll/timekeeper systems from time entry through quarterly and year-end processing including W-2s and 941s
  • Strong experience in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong experience in UKG Kronos preferred
  • Experience with Ellucian Colleague a plus
  • Ability to multitask while meeting tight deadlines, ensuring payrolls are processed accurately and timely
  • Must be able to be a supportive team member and also work independently
  • Honesty, dependability, integrity and confidentiality are musts
  • Self-driven with a high level of attention to detail
  • Strong knowledge of payroll and time and attendance software
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and a commitment to diversity and inclusion
