Job Description

Job Responsibilities

• Create and implement a training program for WARDS Nursing

Goals of training:

• Work collaboratively with WARDS Nursing Supervisor to ensure that newly hired WARDS nurses are introduced to WARDS workflow and policies. Nurses should have a good understanding of these policies before the conclusion of their introductory period.
• Conduct baseline assessment of newly hired nurse's technical skills, knowledge base and clinical skills.
• Provide instruction/training to develop the nurse's skill level and knowledge base.
• This training will consist of a combination of hands-on instruction in the clinical WARDS setting, one on one sessions, and case discussions.
• The WARDS Clinical Nurse Educator will work as an active instructor on the floor. THE WARDS CNE will work alongside newly hired nurses to demonstrate clinical judgement, provide real-time training and mentorship.
• Partner with ADON to create skills lab opportunities for the nurses.
• Work as part of a team of nurse educators within Ryan Hospital.
• ​Collaborate with the WARDS Nursing Supervisor to develop progress assessments during the training period and develop improvement plans for new hires who are not meeting milestones during training period.
• Collaborate with Infection Preventionist to create /update SOPS for Isolation and Infection Control
• Collaborate with Wards Supervisor to implement Best Practices and set policy.
• Educate WARDS nursing staff on SOPS for Infection Prevention and Isolation
  

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years' experience as a CVT working as a clinical nurse in a veterinary teaching hospital
• VTS or CVT with higher education(BS,MS) preferred
• Strong interest in Infection Prevention
• Strong Communication Skills
• Excellent Organizational Skills
• Strong Interest in Teaching
• Proven track record for teaching and delivering quality patient care.

Veterinary Technician D: CVT and 5-8 years of experience
Veterinary Technician E: CVT, VTS and 8 + years of experience
