Educational and Experience Requirement:High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent with a minimum of four years relevant clerical experience is required. Financial aid or other university-related work experience would be helpful. Additional education may be considered in lieu of experience.
Nature & Purpose of Position:Facilitates loan programs and processes of government direct loans, alternative, and parent loans to provide loan disbursement to students in a timely manner for the Financial Aid department. Provides personalized Financial Aid customer service to prospective and current students/parents.
Primary Responsibilities:Processes loan certifications and loan revisions. Reviews output files from daily loan files received. Maintains moderately complex files. Runs processes and data loads and exports files. Reviews and provides information via telephone or in person about student financial aid status. Works with PLUS loans that are offered to parents, reviews and completes forms, and awards unsubsidized loans when PLUS loan has been denied. Works front counter and answers telephones. Reviews student’s financial aid status. Resolves and reconciles rejected loan records and researches loan disbursement errors. Conducts internal audits of physical and digital documents. Interprets federal, state and University policies, regulations, procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other Specifications:Requires answering telephones. During peak periods, telephone work load may be extensive. Requires ability to work at the front desk, encountering students, parents, etc. Requires ability to retain and relay financial information to students and parents. Experience with Financial Aid Software helpful. Computer skills required.
Up to 40% of this position, over the fiscal year during off-peak periods, may be performed remotely as determined by the supervisor.
