JOB SUMMARY

The School of Law is seeking an entry-level, full-time, Financial Assistant to support Business Office operations. Primary responsibilities include student-facing support and may involve receiving, recording, and depositing all student fees and other monies collected according to established policy and providing financial support, as needed. Ideal candidates are energetic, communicative, and able to manage multiple tasks that range from customer service to account reconciliation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Handles bursar, financial aid, accounts receivable/payable, and purchasing job duties and work activities for the Business Office. Assists in resolving problems which could include student billing/financial aid, purchasing, special payroll, accounts receivable/payable, travel, and other Business Office issues.
  2. Serves as a resource to students, staff, and others regarding procurement and Bursar related policies and procedures.
  3. Monitors, tracks, and maintains accurate financial records for student organizations. Prepares reports, as needed.
  4. Performs office management duties; responds to requests for information and provides assistance in solving a variety of problems, reviews paperwork for accuracy and adherence to University and Department policies and procedures.
  5. Works closely with Financial Aid, Registrar, and Student Services to ensure financial transactions are completed accurately and timely.
  6. Places orders with vendors and follows up to resolve problems and assure timely delivery.
  7. Performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Associate's degree in a related field and two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.Ability to work with and provide effective customer service to individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and locations.Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.Customer service experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Two years of experience in business office operations.Experience working in a higher education setting.Experience with Kuali, PeopleSoft, or other similar financial platforms.Experience with Concur or other similar travel platforms.Experience in customer service that is student/faculty facing.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time position. Candidates should expect to work at the Law School, located in Hartford, Connecticut. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Other rights, terms, and conditions of employment are contained in the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut Professional Employees Association (UCPEA).
