Role Description

We welcome applications from talented professionals to join our Aircraft Design group who want to make a significant impact on the shape and future direction of our Centre s portfolio of activities in the areas of powerplant & systems design and integration in addition to CAD, general aircraft design, aircraft conceptual design and flying demonstrator design.

About the Role

The key responsibility involve the contribution to teaching, supervision and assessment on the MSc programs and Continuing Professional Development short courses. Taught modules will include:

  • Powerplant performance and installation
  • Computer Aided Design (CATIA).
  • Initial Aircraft Design

You will also support the teaching activities by leading:

  • the modelling and integration of the propulsion system activities for both intakes
  • the Computer Aided Design, Physical Model and Video student teams
  • the students in the progress monitoring and management of the group design project for the March/Sept intake
  • the students in the organization, management and delivery of a major presentation to industry as well as organizing course student events and course management events

Some of your time will also be spent preparing research proposals and delivery of research contracts and consultancy, as well as developing activities that complement and enhance existing research and teaching within Aerospace.

About You

We are looking for an ambitious and collaborative professional with a PhD in a relevant subject and a Bachelor s degree in Engineering.  You will have experience in Powerplant & Systems design and Integration, in the use and teaching of Computer Aided Design, and knowledge of the use of CAD systems and awareness of PLM/PDM systems.  You will also have broad knowledge of Aerospace vehicles and systems and ideally experience in teaching & student supervision at post-graduate level as well as a good research record or significant experience in the Aerospace Industry.

Along with the ability to organize and manage large groups of students, communication and influencing (& also good listening skills) are important parts of this role as you will be expected to be capable of representing the Aircraft Design group at industry meetings, present work to industry and assist in developing the Aircraft Design group s presence in the research and industrial fields.
