Job Details
The Assistant Coach will assist the Head Coach with directing, supervising and implementing the duties and functions of the men’s basketball program.
Position Work Hours/Week:
- In-season Hours – 16-18 weeks (depending on post-season play), 18 hours per week.-Off-season Hours – 18 weeks, 18 hours per week.-Total of 36 weeks during the academic year.

Experience:
-Demonstrated expertise in basketball. (Minimum)-Prior coaching experience at the high school or college level. (Desired)
Abilities and Skills:
-Ability to provide instruction, training, and motivation necessary for the athletes to compete to the best of their ability. (Minimum)-Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. (Minimum)-Developed organizational skills. (Minimum)-Must possess a current driver’s license. (Minimum)-Must be certified in CPR and First Aid or willing to acquire. (Minimum)-Ability to work within the parameters established by the Head Coach and within the responsibilities as defined in the position description. (Minimum)
Responsibilities-Be responsible for being thoroughly familiar and complying with all College, National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and United East Conference polices and procedures. (Essential)-Assist in coaching the necessary skills, techniques and physical conditioning sufficient to enable each athlete to compete in the basketball program safely and to the best of their abilities. (Essential)-Be responsible for assisting with the on-site supervision during all practice and game situations. (Essential)-Exhibit a high level of expertise in basketball; seek self-improvement when possible. (Essential)-May be responsible for driving a College vehicle to and from sporting events, as needed. (Essential)-Assume Head Coach Responsibilities in the short-term absence of the Head Coach. (Essential)-Assist in the recruiting of prospective student-athletes. (Essential)-Assist with Academic meetings, monitoring and study hall hours of student-athletes (Essential).-Assist with community service and leadership development programs. (Essential)-Participate in Alumni engagement efforts. (Essential)-Other duties as assigned during the 18-weeks of out of basketball season.

-Temporary Position.-Work schedule varies.-Some evening hours may be required.-State Police, Child Line, and FBI fingerprint clearances under the Pennsylvania Child Protective Services Law (CPSL) required before employment can begin.
