Responsibilities

This position serves as a Grants Compliance Analyst for the Department of Biological Science performing daily activities associated with administering, tracking and reporting of federal, state, local and private awards.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Reconciling and monitoring fiscal activities for reporting purposes to ensure compliance with federal, state and university policies.
  • Analyzing, verifying, recording and tracking transactions through completion (revenue, transfers, expenditures of all types) on all assigned projects.
  • Preparing integrated financial and statistical reports, financial statement, and projections for short and/or long-term impact on grant funding.
  • Responsible for developing, reviewing and analyzing sponsored project documents for accuracy and compliance, initiating approval and audit of fiscal activities for contract/grant management of the Biological Science Department, including pre and post award activities and proposal development.
  • Interpreting agency/solicitation guidelines to grantees to assist in proposal development. Interpreting and providing guidance for federal, university, and college policies and monitoring all sponsored project activities for compliance.
  • Advising PIs on pre- and post-award actions and working with them on budget development and submission, long-term planning, and grant closeout.
  • Assisting the Sr. Grants Analyst for the department in training new staff, and may assist with the development and recommendation of policies and procedures related to grants activities. Cross training and serving as back up to other staff members on project related tasks. May provide backup for human resource and fiscal actions for sponsored projects.
  • Coordinating personnel appointments and verifying effort certification is accurately reflected for PIs.
Qualifications

An individual who is flexible, adapts easily to the needs of multiple stakeholders and communicates effectively, is detailed-oriented, enjoys problem-solving, and is able to organize tasks and meet deadlines. You enjoy seeing projects through to completion. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

Minimum Requirements include:

    Bachelor's degree and one year of experienceAbility to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.Ability to gather, interpret, report, and/or edit information.Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.Knowledge of and the ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Knowledge of applicable computer applications, including Microsoft Excel and Word.

Note: This position requires the eSPEAR Certification or ability to obtain the certification within 6 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and private sources for contract and grant funds.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.
