Responsibilities

The Program Manager collaborates with others in the iDigBio project and its stakeholder community to produce deliverables that accomplish iDigBio’s goals and objectives, especially in the area of workforce development for the creation and use of digital data about biodiversity specimens. These deliverables include such things as training workshops, symposia, webinars, white papers, peer-reviewed papers, professional meeting talks and posters, and similar.

Responsibilities include:

  • Discover, develop, and disseminate protocols, best practices, community guidelines, tools, and standards that catalyze excellence in the creation and use of digital data about biodiversity specimens with appropriate collaborators. These protocols and other resources should take full advantage of innovative approaches, such as article intelligence, 3D modeling, citizen science, or other leading-edge developments.
  • Manage the development and delivery of training to the wider scientific community on protocols, best practices, community guidelines, tools, and standards related to the creation and use of digital data about biodiversity specimens with appropriate collaborators. This training should implement best-practice pedagogy for professional development.
  • Assess and report the scientific community's progress toward the creation of digital data about all biodiversity specimens. This evaluation should identify the special needs of the collections (e.g., perhand small collections) that have not been fully engaged in date creation or are well behind the average rate of date creation.
  • Contribute to reporting for the iDigBio project, including quarterly reports to NSF, newsletter articles, blog posts, and internal collaboration reports.
  • Contribute to decision making in iDigBio as a member of the Steering Committee and appropriate iDigBio working groups.
  • Participate in activities of the Institute for Digital Information and Scientific Communication, including such things as reporting and grant proposal writing.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and four years of experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of experience. (Note: or a post high school education and experience equal to eight years.)
  • Ability to convey technical information to technical and non-technical users.
  • Knowledge of data analysis techniques and methodology.
  • Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of data collection.
  • Ability to write and/or proofread and edit written word and/or information in various formats.

Anticipated Salary Range

Minimum salary will be $57,500; pay will be based on experience.
