End User Computing Spec II

Job Description:

  • Assist with day-to-day computer operations and provide Tier 1 and 2 technical support to faculty, administrators, staff, and students in the College of Education via phone, remotely, or during office visits. Perform initial computer imaging, setup, and installation of equipment. This includes PC and Mac workstations, laptops, iPads, Android tablets, and related hardware and peripherals as needed. Provides quotes for new computing equipment.

  • Manage endpoints using the UF-provided management tools (SCCM, Jamf, Intune). Utilize Active Directory and Group Policies for user and computer management.

  • Monitor the IT ticketing system. Provides updates, status, and completion information to the manager via e-mail, or in-person communication.

  • Provides support and guidance while communicating and implementing mandatory UF security policies such as device encryption within the College of Education. Manage and coordinate response to information security incidents and assist college units in ensuring legal and policy compliance for university-owned devices. Monitor and mitigate virus/malware threats.

  • Maintain COE instructional technology equipment and support Counselor Education clinical program technical needs.

  • Keep knowledge current on COE and UFIT policies. Document tasks, projects, and frequently asked questions in an online IT repository.

  • Assist customers in the understanding and use of computer-related equipment and software provided by the college. Research software for end users and solve equipment and software problems through reading, self-study, and online activities.

  • Coordinates activities with UFIT helpdesk, network services, telecommunications, or other information systems groups. Work with Dell and Apple support for computer repairs or replacements.


Expected Salary:

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Associate's degree and two years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Windows and Mac OS-X client operating systems required.
  • Bachelors Degree, or at least four years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Windows-based software packages (Office, Outlook, SAS, SPSS) desirable. Experience working with faculty, staff and students in support of technology desirable.
