College/Department Information
Clinical and translational research programs at Augusta University focus on three key areas that disproportionately affect the health of Georgians: cancer, cardiometabolic disease, and neurological disease including stroke. We are also developing three emerging areas of research strength: regenerative & reparative medicine; personalized medicine & genomics; public and preventive health. Regenerative and reparative medicine will expand studies of diseases or injuries that impact muscles and skeleton, central nervous system, orofacial, orthopedics, and stroke & neurotrauma. Our cardiovascular, obesity, and diabetes research fights the greatest threats to the western Word. Cancer and genomic medicine research are reducing the burden of cancer through superior clinic care, discovery innovation, translational research, and education. Neurological research is unlocking the mysteries of schizophrenia, stroke, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and multiple sclerosis. Personalized medicine is being developed to customize treatments for individual patients, which public and preventive health measures are working to prevent diseases. The Dental College is improving the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of disease of the orofacial complex, while the Vision Center is engaging in high impact research and discovery related to visual function and disease, the outcome of which is expected to have far-reaching clinical applications for patients suffering from blindness and visual disorders. The multidisciplinary field of Women's Health is on the cutting edge of research related to the care of women. Our newest area of research will be through the very exciting start-up of the Cyber Institute at Augusta University.

Job Summary
The Research Compliance Analyst will provide operational support to the Research Security and Export Control programs. In addition they will independently monitor research operations to ensure that research activities at AU are conducted in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws and with USG and AU policies. This individual will promote a culture of compliance and ethics in research at AU, while maintaining focus on customer service and process improvement.
The ideal candidate will have experience in compliance and/or research, exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills, and an open, transparent communication style. In addition, ideal candidates must possess a calm demeanor and a genuine interest in collaborating and building trusting relationships with stakeholders.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities to include but not limited to: Assist the Research Security Officer in monitoring the International Travel Registry (in InfoEd), conducting Travel Security Consultations, restricted party screening and export control reviews. Monitor shared resource emails accounts (i.e. Research Security), process requests, and escalate issues to the Research Security Officer and/or Director, Research Ethics and Compliance as needed. Develop and maintain monitoring plans that independently assess research compliance among researchers and within Research Administration operational units. Provide monitoring of research activities at AU by employing clearly defined expectations and effective communication skills to evaluate the conduct of research and by collaborating with research teams to ensure transparency in the review process. Monitoring will include, but is not limited to, research security, export control, sponsored program activities, human subjects research, laboratory animal research, stem cell research, and research involving synthetic and/or recombinant nucleic acids. Supports, participates, and coordinates activities for the preparation and completion of quality reporting and regulatory reviews. This will be accomplished by Independently managing the workload to include developing and maintaining a detailed tracking mechanism [e.g., spreadsheet or database] to document all aspects of monitoring data, i.e., monitoring dates, activities, findings, action items, due dates, etc. Contribute to the development of training programs and web content that focus on the elements of the AU Research Compliance Program, federal and state regulations, and University System of Georgia, and AU policies and procedures related to research compliance. Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with three years of experience in research and/or compliance.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in research and compliance.

Critically analyze problems and provide solutions.
Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

KNOWLEDGE
US federal, state, and local regulations related to basic science and clinical research studies.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)

Pay Grade: 17

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
