A training position designed to learn through engagement in an advanced level of scientific technical and administrative work in support of research efforts in an assigned laboratory with a focus on the biology of aging across species. Participate in research data collection and documentation within relevant guidelines and protocols; develop and evaluate new research techniques and procedures; publish results in scientific journals. Perform a variety of complex molecular biology and statistical/computational techniques. The duties include, but are not limited to: Develop and execute experiments - Develop and execute experiments related to the biology of aging, with a particular focus on amino acid metabolism. Potential to work with different model (Drosophila and mice) and non-model (dogs) species. Experimental design. Molecular biology (PCR, qPCR, western blotting). Longevity experiments. Analyze data - The laboratory has a large dry lab component, and the postdoc will be expected to analyze large `omics' data and have strong statistical background (or be wiling to learn biostatistics). R/Python and Graphing. Write papers and grants - The postdoc will be expected to produce research papers from their experiments as well as write postdoc fellowships and career development grants. Career development -The postdoc will take part in multiple career development opportunities, both at AU and outside, to progress thei career. The PI will support the postdoc in any career they wish to pursue. Give research presentations, present at conferences and attend workshops/panels. PhD in biology, genetics, biochemistry or related field from an accredited college or university. Preferred Educational Qualifications
Concentration in molecular biology techniques with model or non-model species including: quantitative RT-PCR, western blotting, maintaining stocks and genotyping.

Preferred Experience
Prior experience in statistical analysis of 'omics' data. KNOWLEDGEProficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases SKILLSExcellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Detail-oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to complete work and to meet deadlines
Willingness and ability to work with research animals
Ability to work independently with only general supervision Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
