The DevelopMed Fellowship Programme, co-financed by the Marie Sklodowska-Curie COFUND Action of the European Union offers prestigious Fellowships for outstanding postdoctoral researchers in the area of Precision Oncology. Fellows will conduct their own research project at one of the following academic institutions in Ireland: University College Dublin (UCD; host institution), National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG), the RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences (RCSI) or University College Cork (UCC). The Programme aims to provide fellows with a research training experience of the highest international standards that will help them to forge careers in Precision Oncology. It offers an attractive and supportive working environment at these universities and high-quality tailored training in areas related to research topic and transferrable skills, while Fellows will also benefit from joining the prestigious Marie Curie network. Fellowships include a mandatory 3 - 6 month secondment to another research performing institution in academia, industry, clinical and/or charity sectors in any country.

RESEARCH AREAS

Applicants are required to submit a research project proposal in the broad area of -omics driven Precision Oncology. Precision Oncology spans basic to clinical research disciplines including but not limited to translational biology, computational modelling, nutrition, obesity, molecular bioinformatics, biostatistics, immunology, statistical genetics and clinical informatics. The programme will be open to individuals with research experience in scientific areas related to precision oncology e.g., biology, medicine, (bio)informatics, computing, biochemistry, physics, mathematics, statistics, engineering etc. Applicants have the opportunity to freely choose their research topic from amongst a wide range of areas which can be broadly classified within the three general programme themes: Diagnostics, Therapeutics & Drug Development, and the Tumour Microenvironment. Applicants to the DevelopMed programme must apply with a research project which is relevant to one or more of these general research areas and priorities.
