POSITION SUMMARY

St. Charles Community College is seeking a Full-time Coordinator of Academic Programs in Performing Arts. This position will provide leadership in the administration of the performing arts programs, including the development and implementation of specialized studies in technical theatre. Formulates and develop program plans, goals, and objectives, and coordinate staffing, facilities, and curriculum in alignment with the educational philosophy. Assures consistency of plans with the mission of St. Charles Community College.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness; assists in the preparation of the college catalog, class schedules, and other public information for assigned programs.

Knowledge of classroom procedures, student conduct, and following safe practices in classroom activities. Demonstrated commitment to leading and supporting academic programs through quality and excellence.

Develop and maintain effective relationships with students, faculty, and staff in a diverse environment. Maintains accurate student and other records as required by law and the Board of Trustees.

Position may require teaching duties not to exceed 49%. Additionally, some positions may recruit, hire, train, and mentor faculty and staff including direct supervision of staff and completion of payroll documents and performance appraisals.

This position requires thorough knowledge of industry rules and regulations in the discipline including comprehensive knowledge of equipment, training procedures, testing skills, test preparation, and practice protocols.

Develop set, lighting, and/or sound design for productions, and/or participate in the design, dependent on production season.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strong communication skills to effectively interact with individuals from a variety of multi-cultural backgrounds. Provides excellent customer service. Position requires regular and predictable attendance.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Master's degree in theatre or related field, and tested experience of supporting discipline equaling 5 full-time years.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS IN ONE OF THE FOLLOWING AREAS:

ESTA Entertainment Technician Certification

**Will be subject to a criminal background check.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

Generally, reports to Dean; but may vary depending on organizational need.
