Job Description

The Department of Life Sciences at Texas A&M University—San Antonio is seeking to hire a part-time Adjunct Instructor of Psychology. Expertise is open, but preference is given to applicants with teaching experience and an understanding of psychological research methods. Appointment will begin in Fall 2023. Potential courses include Research Methods and Statistics, General Psychology, Cross Cultural Psychology, Writing for Psychology, Psychology of Learning, Social Psychology, Lifespan Development, and other courses as needs arise. Continuation depends on course availability.

This is an adjunct position, requiring only teaching. Courses could be offered days, evenings, or weekends, based on departmental need.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Masters degree from an accredited university in Psychology

  • Teaching experience

  • Broad training in psychology

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Doctoral degree from an accredited university in Psychology

  • Experience serving as an instructor of record at the college/university level

  • Experience teaching at a culturally diverse university

  • Experience teaching in a non-traditional commuter university setting

  • Ability to teach a range of courses in psychology

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work cooperatively with others

  • Strong self-discipline and ability to work independently

  • Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students

  • Ability to interact with students from diverse backgrounds

Finalists will be required to provide three current, original letters of recommendation to the Search Committee Chair via email (sent directly from the recommender), or at the address listed below. The letters should be less than one year old and should bear the writer's actual signature. Prior to issuing a letter of appointment, official transcripts must be received directly from each degree-granting institution by the Office of Academic Affairs, TAMU-SA, One University Way, San Antonio, TX 78224. We cannot accept transcripts issued directly to the candidate. If transcripts are from an international institution, it is the responsibility of the prospective faculty member to have the transcript translated and evaluated by an approved credential evaluator.
