JOB SUMMARY:

Clemson University's Office of Information Security is looking for a Security Engineer - Data Support to fulfill the following duties:

Security Engineer for Data Support serves in the Office of Information Security while embedded in functional business areas to become subject matter experts in business area's technology portfolio (hardware, apps, services, and data touchpoints) and supports the needs of the business while balancing the requirements for a strong security posture.
Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

50% - Essential - Enterprise Application Security Support:
Support the development and implementation of secure role based frameworks. Provide security administration support to system owners and business analysts. Collaborate with business analyst teams and functional leaders to assess and plan for system upgrades while ensuring data, system and user security is maintained. Implement technical security configurations in business ERP systems.

30% - Essential - Data Security Support:
Support University data classification initiatives. Ensure data is properly classified in Master Data Management and data warehouse solutions. Collaborate with the data management team to tag master data elements and other data with appropriate meta data to ensure appropriate data classification.

10% - Essential - Security Assessment:
Perform vulnerability assessments to gauge the functional business areas against regulatory and internal policy compliance. Provide technical security guidance to staff, particularly on risks and vulnerability remediations. Support periodic security attestation needs from internal audit and functional and technical leaders.

10% - Essential - Research:
Maintain situational awareness of the latest cyber security threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies. Review and develop strategies to protect functional business areas and data.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Bachelor's Degree in information technology systems, computer science, or related field

Work Experience - Experience in information technology systems or related area. Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Certifications - CISSP (preferred), GSEC, and / or SSCP (acceptable), CISM

Work Experience

Experience in ERP/Finance systems or familiarity with PCI, GLBA or other financial regulatory controls would be a strong plus, but managing any application securely in accordance with a regulation would provide a similar foundation.
