Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Director of Equity and Compliance, this position supports a critically important and growing campus team in efforts to ensure equity, promote inclusive excellence, and advance the common good with uncommon will. This position will be instrumental in the success of IDI outreach, engagement, and community serving efforts.

Characteristic Duties – Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, development, and administration of institutional programs, outreach and engagement efforts designed to promote diversity, ensure equity, and advance inclusive excellence.
  • Assist in the communication and advancement of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion priorities, programs, and efforts to support the Spartan community.
  • Assist in efforts to advance equity, ensure compliance with civil rights policies and laws, and audit institutional practice.
  • Assist in equal employment opportunity administrative efforts, production of University affirmative action plans, auditing of personnel practices, review of search processes, and construction of related reports.
  • Create accessible, strategic communications, reports and compliance plans, including responsibilities for construction, distribution, and management of office newsletters, websites, and other communications, as directed by leadership.
  • Ensure success of IDI outreach, engagement, and related events, surveys, annual reports, and other projects through the provision of excellent administrative, and operational support.
  • Assist with appointment arrangements, inquiry responses, email, document review, compliance auditing, accounting, and internal/external communications.
  • Organize and ensure provision of administrative, budgetary, and operational support to equity, compliance, outreach, and engagement.
  • Assist in the supervision and development of student staff, including timekeeping, payroll, and fulfillment of assigned duties.
  • Provide other services and perform additional, related duties as assigned, including but not limited to those normally associated with an executive secretary in order to ensure the completion of necessary work and other duties as assigned.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge normally acquired through a high school education with course work in word processing, typing, shorthand, and grammar; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive University work experience in maintaining account ledgers, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software; editing, composing correspondence, taking dictation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge typically acquired through completion of a high school education and/or advanced degree and three (3) or more years of professional experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion program administration, office coordination, office management, or office administration.
  • Demonstrated experience and competency in word processing, spreadsheet applications, database use and maintenance, and presentation software, editing and composing correspondence, event and outreach programming; and constituent engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience providing excellent communication within a diverse organization and/or community, for leaders, partners, constituents, and other audiences with varied educational and/or experiential backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity within an organization, team, and/or campus environment.
  • Advanced educational attainment (i.e., Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, and/or terminal/doctoral degree).
  • Demonstrated experience providing administrative, and operational support for an office or unit responsible for regulatory compliance, policy administration, and community engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience creating accessible, strategic communications, reports, websites, and other internal/external communications.
  • Demonstrated experience with quantitative, qualitative, and/or mixed method research practices, design, data analyses, data processing, and/or statistics.
