Job Description:

The Film Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of film production for an accredited BFA in Filmmaking program. Ensuring that all the aspects of the film studios, film equipment, and other film related facilities and resources are functioning safely, properly, and efficiently.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure that the film studios and equipment are safe and secure for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  2. Implement safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries related to the improper use of electricity and grip equipment.
  3. Coordinate with University electricians any training, upkeep, or function requiring knowledge of a certified electrician.
  4. Oversee maintenance of the facility, including making sure all the systems are functioning properly, scheduling needed equipment repairs and updates, and overseeing the general upkeep of the facility.
  5. Manage the equipment used in the facility, including cameras, lighting, sound, grip, and any other production equipment. This includes scheduling equipment maintenance and repairs.
  6. Supervise the student workers in the equipment checkout room to ensure that equipment is functioning and available when needed by students. This includes hiring, training, scheduling, and overseeing student workers in the equipment checkout room.
  7. Assist and troubleshoot editing questions for staff, faculty and students in labs.
  8. Will be asked to teach workshops to students in safety and equipment managing and use.
  9. Maintaining a server space for the film program.


Education and Experience Requirements:
  1. A minimum of 4 years of professional film production experience is required. A Bachelor Degree in film related areas is preferred.
  2. Knowledge of film equipment maintenance required.
  3. Must be able to work from elevated platforms and be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
  4. Must be able to adjust work schedules to meet the needs of the film program.
  5. Demonstrate a proactive positive and professional attitude with the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  6. Working knowledge of post-production software (Adobe Suite, Apple Final Cut Pro, etc.) preferred but not required.
